"I have always enjoyed music,
having served my Country, and then going on to meeting many of these
artists and respecting who they are, their privacy, and what they do, I
decided it was time to do something that was different, and not charge
for it." Chuck goes on to say "it is a pleasure
doing this, and I am so grateful
to be able to meet so many talented and wonderful people, it is a lot
of fun, something I really enjoy doing."
Presently Compton is promoting

immediate release:
Mickey Thomas is one of rock
music's best kept secrets. 'Marauder' plunders Thomas Rock legacy with
Starship and Elvin Bishop to pay tribute to his musical influences,
peers, and followers. Featuring fourteen incredible tracks, 'Marauder'
showcases Thomas vocal genius and leaves no doubt that his voice is
among rock music most treasured.
'Marauder' is Thomas fitting tribute to his musical influences such as
The Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Joe Cocker. As lead singer for the
popular 80's hitmakers, Starship, Mickey Thomas was the voice of some
of the biggest hits of the 80's including
We Built This City, 'Sara' and 'Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now'. With
'Marauder', Thomas showcases the amazing range of his voice on classics
as Paul McCartney's 'Maybe I'm Amazed', AC/DC's 'Moneytalks', Snow
Patrol's 'Chasing Cars', and Muse's 'Supermassive Black Hole' among
others.

Greetings Chuck,
Welcome back.
Good to hear from you.
Thanks for the email updates.
I just wanted to let you know that I'll be in Iowa in April or
May of 2011 to do a week of Blues In The Schools programs in the Quad
Cities for the Mississippi Valley Blues Society in Davenport, IA (my
place of birth and home stomping grounds ;-)
The specific dates are not set yet, but when they are, I'll
let you know and perhaps you'd like to 'audit' my work in the schools
by accompanying me to some of the schools? I'll be giving a couple of
concerts in the Quad Cities area that are associated with my
educational residency in the schools.
Also, as I did in 2009, I've been asked to return to perform
and to teach a blues songwriting class for the Oakdale Correctional
Center (minimum-security prison) prison/community choir, in Oakdale,
IA, very near Coralville/Iowa City. A truly great concept; a music
professor at Univ. of Iowa, Prof. Mary Cohen, volunteers her time to
direct the choir that includes prisoners and along with community
members. Prof. Mary Cohen is received the Iowa Governor's Group
Volunteer of the Year Award for 2010. (I believe the 'ceremony'/award
presentation was this past week, on 7/22/10).
I formerly performed many times in Cedar Falls on the KUNI
Monday night program "Live From Studio One" with Karen Impola ... but
my touring schedule in the past few years has not brought me close to
Cedar Falls ... but I did perform at the blues fest in Davenport in
2009.
If you haven't visited the many Hawkeye videos that are up
online that include performance, in-school presentations, and
interviews, please check 'em out if you have a chance free moment:
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=HawkeyeH&view=videos
And of course, the most well produced, concise, informative,
and entertaining video that explains the impact and importance of blues
educational programs was produced last year by the Colorado Blues
Society and can be viewed here:
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=31294463
I have a great deal of touring to keep me busy in the months
ahead; in Aug. and Sept. I'll be performing in concert and at festivals
in California, Oregon, and Washington, and doing in-school multi-day
blues educational residencies in schools in Washington and Colorado in
October.
On Nov. 1st I go to France/Europe for about a month ... first
for a week at the two-week long Blues sur Seine Festival in Mantes La
Jolie, France (40 miles west of Paris) where I'll perform a concert in
a church that was constructed in the 13th Century, two days of Blues In
The Schools in French middle schools, and I'll be presenting my 2-day
'Master Class'/'Teaching the Teachers' seminar for teachers and
musicians interested in creating their own unique in-school blues
educational program according to their background experience and skills.
http://hawkeyeherman.com/pdf/BITS-Reader-10-07.pdf
This will be my 4th visit to the Blues sur Seine Festival in the past
five years.
In the photo link below is interesting Castle La Roche Guyon,
where my 2-day "Teaching the Teachers' seminar has been held in the
past ... it's right on the banks of the Seine River, a lovely place, a
beautiful castle, and so 'strategically located' that it was Nazi Field
Marshal Rommel's headquarters during WWII. No more of that! ... these
days it's 'Hawkeye French Blues Headquarters' ;-)
http://hawkeyeherman.com/photo_gallery/Gallery8/02.htm
After my work at the Blues sur Seine Festival
(www.blues-sur-seine.com) is completed, I'll be performing and
traveling in France, Spain, Italy, and possibly Croatia.
I hope you're doing well and keeping happy, and enjoying the
summer season.
I'll let you know when my schedule for being in the Heartland
in April/May of 2011 is 'solidified' ... in hopes of perhaps meeting up
with you while I'm in Iowa.
Thanks so much for your dedication and support of the music we
love.
Peace, Cheers, and Best Wishes,
Michael "Hawkeye" Herman
